Hey Oppo long time no speak, so long in fact I lost all my old posts, oh well. Thought you all might appreciate some maximum carnage ice racing Ford 3.0 V6 style, and yes it ran for over 15min with no oil or coolant and drove in the shop for post-mortem on its own. Oh yeah did I mention in was now a V4, the wonders of fuel injection never cease to amaze.

That is, er, one well-oiled machine.

I can feel the pain the engine suffered :(

He felt no pain, he was resurrected from the shackles of the junkyard to fight nobly, and died a warrior as all good engines should.

Thanks, I’m more impressed by whoever was on the assembly line that day, it lasted two seasons onf 1000rpm over-revs and abuse.

There appears to be something wrong with that engine.

Just simplifying and adding lightness. Less weight means more speed right?

Your logic is undeniable.

Ford 3.0, you say? Is/was it a Vulcan? Because if so, I’m not surprised in the least it ran that long without oil or coolant

‘Twas a Vulcan, first one I’ve had anything to do with. Very impressed with it’s longevity, not the biggest power house but provided a lot of smiles.

I have one in my Ranger. It’s never going to blow you away power-wise, but that engine’s gonna run till there’s nothing left on this earth but cockroaches and twinkies.

Sadly I can’t say the same for the 4R44E trans that’s behind it. I think the truck’s on it’s 4th one of those.

Yeah this was in a ranger too, luckily it had a five speed manual behind it, although I don't know that it was going to live much longer either.

When I pop the hood of my old Probe, people often have trouble believing that Ford put the Vulcan in there themselves. They assume I did some crazy swap. It's a great motor in a small light coupe with a manual transaxle.

Totally forgot the Probe got the Vulcan
